3 Javier Gutierrez & Mosaic
Flautist/Saxophonist Javier Gutierrez and his Latin jazz band "Mosaic" have been entertaining the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for over 15 years. The ensemble performs Latin Jazz standards with an infusion of Afro-Cuban and Brazilian rhythms and styles.
10 The Funky Knuckles
The inevitable result of a talent-soaked soul and jazz community, The Funky Knuckles are taking the sound of Dallas to an entirely different level. The band is comprised of sidemen from some of the biggest artists in the industry (Beyonce, Erykah Badu, Chrisette Michelle, Talib Kweli, P Diddy, etc.) yet possesses a sound distinctly separate from any of their individual projects. The Funky Knuckles move together musically as a school of fish, never complacent and always stretching the boundaries of improvisation and composition.
17 Dan Haerle Quartet
Jazz in the Atrium welcomes back Dan Haerle, a composer, performer, educator, and ambassador of jazz piano. He is a Regents Professor Emeritus of Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas and a member of the International Association of Jazz Education Hall of Fame. Dan has performed with Clark Terry, Pat Metheny, Freddie Hubbard, and numerous other modern jazz leaders, and has recorded multiple albums featuring his own music as well as jazz standards.
24 String Theory Manouche
String Theory Manouche is an acoustic ensemble that plays music in the tradition of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. This gypsy jazz quartet is led by Kim Platko, a well-known Dallas-area musician who has worked on variety of professional recording and orchestral projects over the last 30 years. Joining Kim will be Mark Menikos on violin, James Miller on guitar, and Marla Sporrer on the upright bass.

1 Breggett Rideau
Critically-acclaimed songstress Breggett Rideau is a trailblazer throughout DFW when it comes to preserving the rich cultural heritage of traditional jazz music. According to the Dallas Morning News, “Rideau is one artist who’s worth searching out. With her deep, resonant voice and her total command of jazz and soul, she’s one of the area’s most promising singers.”
8 The James Gilyard Ensemble
James Gilyard is a jazz bassist, composer, and producer. His ensemble features some of DFW’s finest young musicians and Simone Rogers on vocals. Gilyard has performed with Kenny Burrell, Barney Kessell, James Clay, Red Garland, Houston Person, Red Holloway, Javon Jackson, Marchel Ivery, and Monty Alexander, to name a few. Gilyard's ensemble plays jazz that doesn't leave the casual listener behind.
Uncommonly creative and thoroughly enjoyable, 2tone blends the magic of the electric jazz harp and the rhythmic strength of the bass in perfect harmony. Jazz harpist Cindy Horstman and bassist Michael Medina formed 2tone 20 years ago and together they create electric blends of exciting, smooth, soothing, and sultry music ranging from works by Sting, the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Pat Metheny, and some originals. 2tone will be joined by special guest musicians for this performance.
22 Michael Palma
Pianist and composer Michael Palma is one of the most sought-after and highly respected musicians in the DFW jazz scene. A graduate of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and Berklee College of Music, Palma has shared the stage with many musical greats, such as Wynton Marsalis, Greg Osby, Mark Turner, and Jimmy Cobb, to name a few. His music can be heard on such award-winning television programs as Dancing with the Stars, Celebrity Expose, and America’s Best Dance Crew.
29 Rosana Eckert
Rosana Eckert is an internationally recognized live and studio vocalist, songwriter, arranger, and professor of vocal jazz at the University of North Texas. Always entertaining and fresh with her unique arranging style and original story songs, she travels from traditional to modern jazz, from ballad to funk, from blues to bossa nova with ease. She has released four solo CDs and has performed with such jazz greats as Bobby McFerrin, Lyle Mays, George Duke, Christian McBride, and Jon Faddis, and as a sub in the Grammy Award-winning vocal quartet New York Voices.
5 The GJQ
The Gaika James Quintet, known more simply as “The GJQ,” is led by trombonist Gaika James. James was born in New Orleans but started learning the trombone while living in Lawton, Oklahoma. He moved to Dallas with his family in 1989 and has been here ever since. He’s well versed in a variety of music types, including jazz, funk, gospel, reggae, hip-hop, and dance/electronica, and has performed with Toby Keith, Kirk Franklin, and Fred Hammond, to name a few. The GJQ plays an eclectic mix of genres—all with jazz at its root.
12 The John Adams Group
This powerful and elegant ensemble performs a wide spectrum, from originals, standards, and smooth-jazz to arrangements of contemporary pop and movie themes. Led by bassist and composer John Adams, The John Adams Group is comprised of some of the finest, most versatile studio/jazz musicians and vocalists in the Southwest. They regularly appear in a variety of configurations, from duo to six-piece, at festivals, concert series, colleges, churches, and special events of all kinds in the DFW area and throughout Texas and the southern U.S.
19 Corner Pocket
With a distinct, defining sound and style all its own, the talented and sophisticated jazz group Corner Pocket has been entertaining audiences throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 1999. Backed by a star-studded rhythm section featuring the legendary bassist Lynn Seaton, Corner Pocket’s hard swinging rhythm is enough to get anyone out of their seats and on to the dance floor.
26 Linny Nance & Network
Linny Nance is a Dallas-based composer, arranger, producer, and keyboardist. He has shared the stage with James Ingram, Lucky Peterson, Tom Braxton, and others, and he performs regularly with the Sandaga Jazz Band. In addition to his own work, he’s written music for Tamara Peterson, Pamela Williams, and more. He performs R&B and contemporary jazz with his group, Network.
