Studio Creations

Saturdays and Sundays, 1:00–3:30 p.m., Art Studio
Discover a new art-making activity each month! Join us in the studio, where volunteers are on hand to help your family make unique art projects. All materials are provided.

July 3-31: Enjoy works of art in the Coastlines: Images of Land and Sea exhibition and create your own beach-themed work of art in the studio.

August 1-15: View works of art in the Museum's collections and create a found-object puppet in the studio. No Studio Creations August 21-29.

Sketching in the Galleries for Kids

Every third Saturday with some exceptions, 1:00–3:00 p.m.
Families are invited to sketch from original works of art. All supplies are provided.

July 17: Coastlines: Images of Land and Sea exhibition, Level 1

August 14: American Art, Level 4

September 18: Ancient Art of the Americas, Level 4

Collection Connections

Sundays, 1:30–3:30 p.m.
Take an in-depth look at a different work of art each month. A trained volunteer will be in the galleries with engaging materials for all ages. 

July 11-25: Vishnu as Varaha, Level 3

August 8-15: Gothic Bed, Level 4. No Collection Connections August 22-29.

September 5-26: Lady Bolon K'an, Level 4

Family Films

Saturdays and Sundays, 2:00 p.m., Theater, Center for Creative Connections
Films subject to change. 

July 3-31: Who Is the Artist? Dufy, Gauguin, and Matisse (26 min., ages 9 and up)
Learn about the lives and work of three artists and discover how to recognize their work by their style, techniques, and subject matter.

August 1-29: Reading Rainbow: The Carousel (30 min.)
A carousel is the backdrop for this sensitive story about sisters who search for memories of their mother's legacy.
 
September 4-26: Dropping in on Picasso (21 min.)
Puffer drops in on Pablo Picasso and learns how his art evolved from his Blue period to his Rose period to Cubism and even sculpture.

These films are presented by the Robert J. O’Donnell Film Series Endowment Fund.
